16 Easy and Creative Ideas to celebrate Spouse’s Birthday at Home

I have written so many detailed themes for kid’s birthday parties, but leaving adults out of it, is not done. After all they are also little kids by heart. But due to this pandemic, we can’t go out and celebrate our birthdays in the usual “fun” way. The dinner and the movie.
So here are some cool and cute ideas for celebrations that will be way more fun than the traditional dinner.

1. Photoshoot at home
You can search for loads of Creative photoshoot ideas on Pinterest. Fun way to create memories.

2. Spa at home
This new way of living has brought lot of stress in our lives. Create a bubble bath for him/her. Light up aromatic candles and give a tension releasing foot rub or facial.

3. Escape room birthday
This one is for the adventure loving type. Plan an elaborate escape room adventure for him/her and watch him/her get confused, excited, pensive.. all at the same time.

4. Buy a gift online
Gifts can be confusing. What to buy? Is it ornamental only? He already has one. Would he like another? What if this dress doesn’t fit her?
Stop pondering and sit with your spouse. Order him/her a gift online. Of course it will take out the surprise element, but then it would be worth waiting for something he/she really wants.

5. Family game night
Games are as much fun for adults as they are for kids. Few ‘minute to win it’ games or just team games will make this birthday the most memorable one. You can search hundreds of party games on Pinterest or click here to see what we did.

6. Romantic dinner
It’s not the venue, but the company that matters. Plan a romantic evening with roses or candles on the roof/balcony. Switch on his/her favourite playlist and dance the night away. (If you are looking for some anniversary ideas, click here.)

7. Recreate your favourite restaurant meal
So, he loves Dal bukhara? Or the punjabi chole bhature? Not indian? Alright then how about crispy tacos or quesadillas? Whatever his/her favourite dish is, recreate it at home. Youtube is full of cooking shows. Use it.

8. Bake a cake
This is not to be missed. It’s what I call, ‘the essence’ of birthday. If nothing else, bake a cake for him/her. Use an oven or a simple cooker, but please make an effort. Not a cook? Don’t worry, you can find recipe for no bake cakes also. Look what my mum made for dad. She hasn’t baked it but it turned out to be so delicious. This is dry Britannia chocolate cake (crushed), topped with vanilla icecream and chocolate balls. Pure Love..

9. Make a video message from loved ones
This is the most trending way of celebration. But this has to be done in advance. Ask your friends and family to record short messages or anecdotes about the birthday boy or girl and you can compile them all in any video editor. It turns out to be so much fun and a cherishable gift.

10. Let him/her relax
I guess this is what most men want. But, it’s not a surprise that this lockdown has brought added burden on the wives. So, please let her sleep-in on her birthday. Pamper her with ready breakfast and try to manage kids and home chores for a day. No better celebration than this.

11. Solo or virtual dance party
Invite friends online. Put on some punjabi music and start dancing. It will be fun once you get past the initial hesitation.

12. Virtual treasure hunt for adults
This is one of the games I just love. Since I was 15, I have been planning treasure hunts for my sister, brother and now my kids. It comes as no surprise that adults love this hunt too. You may pre-plan it and call his/her friends online and play this fun virtual treasure hunt.

13. Donate
This is not for some feel good factor only. But I have seen people donating through out the year. Donate food, clothes, medicines, money.. whatever and any amount you can. You will get so many blessings that you can’t even imagine. Or you may create a fundraiser on any authentic social media and let your friends help.

14. Make it your own
Ask beforehand what he/she would do if not stuck at home. Then try to recreate it. Spoiler alert! But then, you will know what to plan. Of course you can’t go on a trip. But if he/she has some dream destination, then you can have a virtual tour of that place from the comfort of your bedroom. (visit Switzerland or Paris or your honeymoon destination again)

15. Casino Royale
Start with a virtual casino game with friends. Use fake money or points and the one to get most fake money wins a prize at the end.

16. Plan a birthday week
Plan a different activity for each day of the week culminating with the grand finale on birthday. This way it will be the most special birthday of a lifetime.

So go on.. get ready and plan an awesome birthday. Click here for the day’s timeline to help you out.
