12 Steps to a Perfect Quarantine Birthday Surprise for Spouse

12 Steps to a Perfect Quarantine Birthday Surprise for Spouse

1. The Decor
There are so many ideas on Pinterest using paper, balloons and flowers that you will need some planning beforehand.

2. The extra rest
Let him/her sleep-in. This way you will get more time for the decor and he/she will get more rest.

3. The Breakfast
Although not a surprise, but a breakfast in bed is a welcome and pleasant change. Even if it’s a simple toast or parantha.

4. The Kids
Tell kids to jump in the bed and wish their parent with big hugs and kisses. This is the most unadulterated form of love.

5. The Gift
Here you have two choices. Either give the birthday gift or handmade card in the bed only or plan a meticulous scavenger hunt all over the house. I love the second one. Takes time, but the thrill and excitement in getting the gift outshines everything else.

6. The Afternoon
Nap before lunch is like a feather in the cap. But if your Mr. or Mrs. doesn’t like to sleep in the afternoon, you may want to give him/her a spa treatment. Of course it’s totally optional.

7. The Main Event
Evening fun. The highlight of birthday. The grand event. Choose amongst the following.
Escape room Puzzles
Family game night
– Simple dance party
Virtual party with treasure hunt or bingo

8. The Cake
Blow the candles, make a wish, cut the cake and rejoice.

9. The Dinner
Cook a romantic meal for just the two of you. Or maybe you would like to recreate his/her favourite restaurant dish he/she has been craving for so long. I know I am asking a lot but come on, its the last meal of this special day.

10. The Wishes
If you have managed to compile a list of video messages, from family and friends, play it on the big screen and do record the birthday boy’s/ girl’s reactions. Or simply video conference with them live.

When some things go wrong, take a moment to be thankful for the many things that are going right.

11. The gratitude list
This will make your spouse introspect and believe me, it will make him/her sleep so much better after knowing what all he/she has to be thankful for.

12. There is still some time left.
Here also, you have so many options. (I just want to fit in so many things in one day.)
– Watch a cool Movie in bed
– Online video game with friends just like a virtual slumber party
– Go on a virtual trip to places you have never been to. Then make a bucket list for those. Switzerland, Paris, go ahead. The world is your oyester.

There are many more things you can do on the birthday. Click here to find out. By the way, my husband’s birthday is coming soon and I would surely share the pics with you all. Have an awesome time planning.
