Creative ideas for wrapping gifts – without Gift Paper

This Rakshabandhan, I ran out of gift paper to wrap the presents I got for my girls. But any gift without a beautiful wrap doesn’t look like a gift. Does it? Half the fun is looking at the delighted faces when they are unwrapping the present.

So I did what I could do best. I used some white plain A4 sheets and drew on them. Kaira loves Peppa pig and Reya, Masha and the Bear. This is how they turned out. Simple crayons and black pen.

Now this got me searching on web, for more gift wrapping ideas in this emergent situation. And I got loads of them. I am going to share a few of them which I found best.

1. Animal escapade

These simple folding methods will make the person squeal with delight.

To make the above DIY mouse gift wrap, go to Handmade Charlotte’s website.

2. Interactive Gift Wrap

Two-in-one play. They will have as much fun playing, before opening the gift, as after.

Use a word puzzle generator to make the above cool gift wrap or read the tutorial on grasping for objectivity.

3. Plain paper with with a little craft

These are just so simple to try and give the gift a complete makeover.

If you don’t have any of the above to decorate, you can always make paper flowers or pom-pom balls using thread.

3. Tshirt or sweater wrap

This makes for such a nice 2-in-1 gift. The gift wrap is also a present.

This is called Furoshiki Wrap and the tutorial can easily be found online.

The tutorial for this fabric pouch wrap can be found at A spoonful of Sugar.

4. Decorating with Leaves

Leaves are something which can easily be found anywhere. On your terrace, balcony or nearby park. Just some brown or white paper, add jute twine and leaves. Voila!!

5. Out of the box ideas

I found these ideas as fresh, fun and exciting. Do try them when you are gifting something.

I particularly like the money balloon idea. Much better way to gift money. You may find the tutorial at Sugar and Charm.

6. And if none of the above is for you, then some simple drawings will also be enough.

Instead of a brown or plain white paper you may also use a map. It looks stylish and adds value to the gift.

Apart from the above, one may also make some paper bags using any hard paper. There are many tutorials available.

Happy gifting !!
