What were your plans for your anniversary this year? Have a grand party? A romantic dinner at a fine dining restaurant? or a vacation? Well, definitely not dinner at home.
Lockdown was not on the menu for Saurabh and Reha when they planned for their 5th anniversary together. This was before this pandemic threw couples across the globe, together, day in and day out in the confines of their homes.
But then, this did not dampen their spirits. “No travelling. No restaurant. So, we made the most of this staycation.” They raised a toast to all the blessings they had. True story.
Here are some ways you can also rekindle the spark on your lockdown anniversary.
- A cozy candlelight dinner followed by a movie date. Go crazy on this one. Set up your dining table with fine crockery, good food, music and a candle. Make the corner of your bedroom come to life with lights, cushions and sheets.. Choose a good movie. Maybe the first one you ever watched together or a new flick. Come on! Dress up. Cut the cake. It’s showtime!
- A starry balcony affair looking at the night skyline Ooohh! so you are one of the romantic types. Make a comfy seating arrangement on the balcony or roof. Put together a fantastic meal and soul soothing music.. voila! Perfect anniversary setting. Decor can range from lavish sky lanterns or stars (there must be some leftovers from diwali !!) to simple roses kept on the table. Reminisce about your love and dance the evening away!!
- Family dinner followed by a trip down the memory lane If you live in a joint family, it is more than obvious that everyone will have dinner together. Make it a party. Talk, laugh and enjoy this special day with your near and dear ones. Look at your wedding photographs together. Trust me, it brings back a lot of fond memories, not ignoring the fact how young everybody looked!
- Virtual Party bash This is for the wild party animals who are missing the outside world badly. Call your friends over on Skype or Google meet. Blow out the candles, cut the cake, play some music and have a dance party with friends. Maybe mix it up with a couple newspaper dance competition.
