How we celebrated Kaira’s Lockdown Birthday

There is a silver lining in this pandemic. The close family ties, the long pending video calls with college friends, the honing of our long lost passion. All amounts to the hope people have. One of the most happy event which reignites this hope is a birthday.

My daughter turned 2 this June. She is a feisty little creature. So I was happy that her birthday would be celebrated at home.

I thought that it would be a simple affair with a few games and a simple dinner. But it became a huge menu, courtesy my husband and son. Chinese, Italian, Indian ,Fast food. You name it and we made it. Waise he made elaborate tandoori momos (Yes he did), KFC style fried chicken, chilli paneer, fried rice, noodles. I was the minion helping him and making a few dishes on my own. I tried my hands on potato wedges, pizza (along with homemade base and sauce), a delicious pineapple cake and phirni for dessert. Hence the afternoon went in the kitchen.

Then came the evening. But the evening was fun. Kids played in the swimming inflatable tub. Played Peppa games and cut the cake. You dont want to see the mess we had in the morning after.

So this is how we celebrated another lockdown birthday. I searched through 100s of recipes for the dishes and mixed and matched them with instinct. They turned out great. If you want to view the recipes please click here.
