Mom, I love you!! Even though I will never accept your friend request…

Just kidding! I have already friended my mother and my mother by law. Now, that I am a mom, Suddenly I understand both my mothers so well. Initially I used to think that Mother’s Day is just a fad, copied from the western countries because they don’t have enough festivals of their own. But now I realise that mothers NEED this day. Are you listening? The fathers and the husbands?

Mothers have been wired by nature to be the giver all their life. So what if we celebrate them for 2 days (including their birthday) out of 365?

So, how do we celebrate their love in lockdown? Only two things come to my mind.

If they are young, Give them rest. Not only physical but mental peace too. Foot massage, home chores, managing the kids, every little bit counts. If they do the food, you do the dishes. If they clean the house, you manage the kids. Let them monopolize the TV remote for the day.

If they are old, spend time with them. Find out what they love. Gardening, painting, decorating, cooking, dancing,.. whatever they love. Do it with them.  Listen to them.

That being said to all the fathers and husbands and kids, now is the time to preach some of my nonsense to mothers too.

“A clean house is a sign of a wasted life. “

Get up ladies. Give time to yourself. This lockdown has brought many extra repsonsibilities but time is in your hands. Look around and follow your passion. I should  not be the one to give you pep talk but motivate yourself everyday. Give yourself a reason to wake up besides home chores. Don’t be a saint and let your kids and spouse pamper you for a day. After reading inspiring stories at live a little love a lot’s blog , you can also find your happy place.

So, guys, one small gesture and just look at their beaming face. Come on.. show your appreciation. Make at least one day – their day.
