Movie evening

Movie evening

(Age group – 8 – 14 years)

This theme can only be incorporated with a bunch of kids old enough to go to bathroom without help and also those who would love to go out for a movie and don’t mind some parent escorting them.

First thing first. This option can be a little expensive as the good cinema halls in our country are on an expensive side. So I would suggest you to look for cashback options or some scheme like PVRs sell half price tickets on thursdays. Or if its a weekend then the morning shows are a lot cheaper.

Then comes the selection of movie part. This depends upon the age group of kids. Younger kids might want to watch some animated or comedy movie while the older ones would love some sci-fi flick like avengers or star wars. It all depends on the kids’ interest. Then, the movie should be age appropriate. You cant take them for a romantic  or horror or A rated violent movie. Make sure its U or PG rated, so that the other parents don’t disapprove. Also the movie should be fairly new and none of them should have watched it. So, I prefer weekends for this. Major openings are on Fridays, and Saturday Sunday mornings are good to go. Friday mornings are a big hit in summer holidays.

Then how to plan the invite if you yourself dont know about the show timings. Easy peasy. Just dont mention the time on the invite. This can be send via whatsapp or message in this technological age. The parents may drop the kids at the venue itself 20-30 min early.

In the movie hall, you would definitely need some assistance from another adult to refill popcorns, drinks and to take kids to bathroom. Don’t EVER EVER leave the kids or let them go to bathroom alone. Its not safe. And you have a big responsibility of others’ kids.
After the movie, you can go to some fast food joint and cut the cake. Burgers or pizzas whatever you like. In half an hour the party is wrapped up and goody bags given as favors. For more return gift ideas, please click here.

Although we go for vacation once a year, the whole work and family life give us very little time to be together. And even if we do get an hour or so, most of the time we are on our devices.
