Virtual Big Boss – A great party game

Virtual Big Boss – A great party game

I have not watched Big Boss since the last 12 years. You must have guessed that I am not a fan of the series. Rather I just hate it. So when, my friend, Astha asked me whether I want to play virtual big boss, my brain automatically replied – NO.  But then, my heart reasoned with it.

Heart – what’s the harm? Anyways you are locked at home. Do you have anything better to do?

Brain – yes. Jhadu, poncha, kids, dinner..

Heart – seriously? Do you have any social life left?

Brain – hmmm. I HAVE been missing my friends.

So, eventually after a little more coaxing, heart won.

The rule was simple.. you had to do what Big Boss wants. Agar Big Boss chahte hain ki tum gaana gao to tum gaana gaoge. Sath mein selfie bhi loge aur whatsapp par daaloge.

Brain –  So that other players can make fun of you forever.

Heart – Don’t crib.  Everybody knows you snort while laughing.

  • Make teams. Include your spouse, your kids, mother, father whoever you want.
  • Name your team.
  • Do the task. Post picture doing that task.
  • Points will be given based on who completes the task first.
  • The team with the most points wins.

Brain – So, what’s new in this? Waise hi Modi Ji koi na koi task to de hi rahe hain.

Heart – (rolls eyes). It’s impossible to deal with you.

I started playing this game albeit a little reluctantly. We named our team ‘The Avengers’ because that’s what my son, the biggest Avengers fan, wanted. We had 2 teams at home.  Me, my husband, both my kids. My brother in law, his wife and his daughter.

Other teams included our friends’ families, miles apart. Most of us were in Delhi and some were in New York (yes they are safe), Sydney, San Francisco and Chandigarh. It felt so good to connect with all after such a long time and see their faces ( even if in photographs).

Most of the tasks were simple and funny.  When I was looking for 5 vegetables, my Mother in law helped us win. The bartan dhone wala task was just super funny. All the gents with dupatta and singing.. oh God. Some were so shy that they were just humming. And all the scrambling and running to find the same colour Tshirts..  At the end, my friend Astha’s team won.  Thank you Astha and Ankush for making this party awesome!!

Brain – It took almost an hour and half but at least it didn’t feel boring at any point of time.

Heart – oh please. You fell from the sofa, laughing.

So, never judge a book by it’s cover. Or rather, a game by it’s name.

Although we go for vacation once a year, the whole work and family life give us very little time to be together. And even if we do get an hour or so, most of the time we are on our devices.
