Lockdown mein Party?

Lockdown mein Party?

We have very eccentric neighbours, backdoor neighbours to be accurate. They are always throwing parties. Whenever we are about to sleep, Boom! Loud music. It won’t be wrong to say that they have good taste in music. It matches mine. All the old classics as well as the new punjabi ones.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy parties but it’s just that their rooftop is adjoining our bedroom wall. If I open my back door, I can view the party as if I am participating in it. And you all know I have a 2 year old daughter who is a light sleeper. Sometimes, I nag my husband to call them so that they can lower the volume.. Other times I just play along.

So, coming back to the topic. Our Prime Minister had ordered a complete lockdown from 24th March 2020 and there were incidents that people were not following it. One day, I heard the same familiar music and laughter from our back neighbors. I was suspicious. Had they called over some friends? But how could they? Nobody is allowed to travel. So, curious me, opened the door just a tiny crack to see what was happening.

It was a usual party scene. They had LED lights hung over all the plants. Loud music blasting on their home theater. Kids making noise, adults chatting and laughing, eating good food.

Then someone turned. And saw me. I gave a sheepish grin and closed the door expecting that they didn’t notice my embarrassment.

The next day one of the ladies of the house called my mother in law to chit chat and then it dawned on me that it was just the family members having a good time together. They also have a joint family like us and were making good use of this quarantine period.

So, the crux of this story is

  1. You can also have a great time with family
  2. Parties need not be hoards of people every time
  3. Don’t be suspicious of everybody and don’t put your nose in where it does not belong.

P.S. I have made good friends with my neighbour lady whose name I can’t disclose here. And she gave me some finger licking party recipes which I will share with you in another post.
